SEPTEMBER MEET-UP

MEDITATION

We generally start our Meet-Up with a breathing and meditation exercise to help us relax.   This month it was led by Venitra White-Dean. The exercise allowed us to clear our minds of the day-to-day clutter,  it improved our attention to help us concentrate on the information we were going to receive in our educational session. We should all take a few minutes each day to meditate.  The benefits are great!

Top 6 Benefits of Meditation

  • Reduces Stress. When we get stressed, our levels of cortisol increase, which produces many of the harmful effects of stress, like disrupted sleep and depression

  • Controls Anxiety

  • Meditation Promotes Emotional Health

  • Increases Self-Awareness

  • Meditation Improves Concentration

  • Slows Aging

GREETER

Meet our warm and cheerful greeter, Barbara Cherry. Barbara greeted each of our caregivers as they arrived at the meet-up. The Foundation met in a different building this time; and she was there to give directions when needed. She made everyone feel right at home.

DO WE NEED INSURANCE?

Darrin Rankin of Rankin Insurance Group was here to answer that question.  He was the speaker for the day.  He really enlightened the group with a plethora of information on all the different kinds of insurance and what they are; what we need and what we don't need.  Not only is Mr. Rankin a very handsome, well dressed distinguishing looking gentleman. He is very intelligent, humorous and captivating.  So much so, that the group opted not to take the 2nd hour of the meet-up to do our fun, engaging activity, and continue talking with Mr. Rankin.  His goal for the day was not to sell insurance, but to be informative.

Throughout the meeting door prizes were given. This is always a fun part that everyone enjoys!!

Not only did Mr. Rankin provide us with great information, he provided us with a great lunch. Lunch consisted of Lasagna with ground turkey, tossed salad and garlic bread. With a delicious variety of sweets and treats!

After the meet-up the caregivers were able to go to our give-a-way room. We had lots of useful items that caregivers need while taking care of their loved ones. Caregivers were given a bag(s) and they were able to get as much as they would use.
